I have had the opportunity to test a number of different online photo sharing and developing sites, both for personal and job research, and have been impressed by many of the services. I wrote an opinion on ofoto, which I still believe is one of the better services, and that opinion compared many of the different sites. I hardly spoke of Club Photo, however, which I think is also a top site.
Improvements
Club Photo has really improved the layout of its site, as well as its product offerings. The improvements include a "photo refinishing" area, that allows you to lighten, darken, and retouch photos. Very helpful technology that turns photos that would normally be thrown away (or in this case not purchased) into keepers. Another impovement is in the photo gallery. It is easy to sort and arrange photos into seperate albums, and grant access to friends and family to view your photos.
Service
In my experience, Club Photo has been the fastest in terms of posting analog photos (film) online, as well as sending out prints that you order copies of. By comparison, fotolinks lost my first order, and when I tried to track it down, they blamed EZ Prints (which does their processing), when it was clearly their mistake, and then sent 3 packets of orders. Ofto took a little over a week, and Snapfish... forget it. Several weeks. Club Photo does, however, charge $1 for analog processing, which others do for free. Uploading digital images is fast, but comparable to other sites.
Features
I would have to say that the features that set Club Photo apart from other services is their speed, quality of prints, ability to retouch prints, and one feature that only they have- downloading pictures onto a palm pilot. I do not use this service personally, but if you're interested, they've got it.
Again, many of these sites are improving on a daily basis, and many of them are not featured here in epinions, including fotolinks, gatherround, dotphoto, and others. I believe that these sites will continue to improve, but Club Photo is one of the early leaders.
