Lycos Search has been one of my favorites since 1997. I've been on the net for quite a while now and have tried several search engines. Only 2 of those are my favorites. One of the is Goto.com and the other, Lycos.
I learned that the name Lycos is actually a kind of spider that does not wait for insects and flies to land on its web. It goes out to hunt for preys.
Similarly, Lycos Search keeps going out and get me the most recent finds when I do a search. This helps me to be updated and gives me more choices. It's interesting to know that I got to know about Epinions when I did a search in Lycos on "Collin Raye." And I ended here writing my own opinions.
Other than their search capabilities, they have lots of community activities that we can use like Tripod and Angelfire for website building, MailCity for free web-based email, free software downloads, Lycos Calendar (web-organizer), and even a dedicated site for children. You can also customize what you want to see in My Lycos.
All in all, Lycos Search will keep you coming back. And now with the merger with Terra, they are an even more formidable player in the Internet market. We'll have to wait and see what other great ideas they may come up with.
