Most of you are probably seeking, and impressed by, technical, statistical opinions. Complete with terms such as "meta", # of sites indexed, and so forth. If that's the case, sorry, you've clicked the wrong door ;)
In any case, for the factsy fancy stuff, you have only to click links at any search engine, & those links will be most happy to oblige you!
But, if you want to hear about my satisfactory experiences with Mamma, well then, read on...
After recently reading about DogPile via Epinions, I thought I'd finally found my "ultimate" engine [even better than Google] since DogPile found me an unusual [private] site I'd been seeking for ages, and which I hadn't even found via Google.
But when I rushed to a techie forum to "spread the good word" someone responded that DogPile is excellent BUT Mamma is better and Copernic2000.com is the best. (The latter requires downloading, so therefore I did not bother trying it.)
Now, even though I'd already known about Mamma for quite awhile, I hadn't made it my Number One, simply because I wasn't aware that it was any better than Google.
But NOW that I've subjected Mamma to my "exclusive acid test" it passed with FLYING COLORS! Because, not only did it find my forementioned unusual site, but the site was one of the first on the hit list - unlike DogPile, wherein it was much lower down the list.
Still not convinced? Maybe this will ??partially?? convince you:
Say you're searching for a job, and are seeking a job search site.
Go to google, dogpile and mamma.
Next, type "job search" as your keywords on each of those sites.
To date, ONLY Mamma will yield the popular job search site - monster.com as one of its first hits. Maybe the other engines yield the monster site in subsequent pages, but who enjoys wading? I, for one, don't.
Don't get me wrong! I plan on continuing to alternate between Mamma, Dogpile & Google, because they're all excellent. But now that I've discovered Mamma's [and DogPile's] power, I'm impressed. Of course, nothing remains static, & I anticipate further leapfrog developments.
