Well, I started using this search engine back when it was infoseek. I must be getting old. But seriously, this is and always has been my favorite search engine on the net.
The one thing that I think really sets GO apart from other search engines is the ability to narrow your results down. That means, if you're trying to find, say, how many RBIs Manny Ramirez had in 1999, you can do a search for Manny Ramirez, then do a search of your results for the ones containing the phrase RBI, then narrow those results even further by searching for the year. The answer is 165 by the way.
now, you might not be as big a sports fan as I am, but the feature comes in very handy when looking for almost anything online. GO is always the first site I go to. And if you ARE as big a sports fan as I am, you'll love the ability to just type in a players name and have your search results returned along with a picture and stats for them. This is thanks to the search engine's partnership with ESPN through the go network.
Other partner sites for GO are ABC, Disney, ABCNews, Family.com, Movies.com, Mr Showbiz, and Wall of Sound.
Go, like many other portals to the internet, is more than just it's search engine, however. It has a cartoon of the day, headlines, sports scores, auctions, horoscopes, weather, stocks, free home pages, games and a host of other things.
It even has a translator that works between six different languages. If you want an entire web page translated for you, simply input the URL and push a button. Or, if you're trying to figure out how to say, "You're off the island," in Portuguese, just type it in and click. "Você está fora do console." I've been on the internet about five years, and infoseek hasn't let me down yet. Now that it's changed names, it seems to only have gotten better.
