I was born in a small town in Iowa, and was raised by crazy hippie parents, but now live in Minnesota where I am a grad student.
What I enjoy doing:
Reading- I read lots of nonfiction, especially history or science-related. I love learning about new things. Unfortunately my omnivorousness in this regard does not help me *ahem* specialize.
I also read a fair ammount of fiction, especially classic literature (Mark Twain rules!) and science fiction- hard SF like Arthur C. Clarke, Larry Niven, Poul Anderson, etc.
Travelling- I love travelling, both in the US and in foreign countries,mainly Latin America in my case. Unfortunately, I don't do it as often as I used to due to lack of time and money and my car's increasing crapulence.
Nature- I try to go one short hikes at least every other day, and visit at least a state park once or twice a month at a minimum. I go see national parks when I can.
Music- Classical music is what's closest to my heart (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart), but I also like rock music c.1965-1975, especially if it was more creative or artistic (later Beatles, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Traffic, etc.). Heck, I like everything, so long as its a good sample of its genre.
In sum, I like anything that broadens my mind (except drugs- maybe I should update my nickname?). I crave variety and hate monotony.
I mainly write on here for fun- its nice to write something that *won't* be graded for a change, and I enjoy writing about places or things that I enjoyed myself.
