I live and work in Washington,D.C. and have been traveling as long as I can remember. Traveling is something of a hobby for me. I collect books, and an eclectic collection of art, antiques and really wild modern Italian furniture. As you might have guessed from some of my reviews, I have a strong interest in architecture. I graduated from the School of Design at L.S.U. in 1987 and have worked in both the design and hotel fields ever since. Hotels and their histories have always been of significant interest to me. I am very much involved in preservation. I also enjoy good restaurants, biking and golf.

The Shamrock-Hilton in Houston...1948 The builder of the Shamrock, Glenn McCarthy, was the inspiration for the character Jett Rink, played by James Dean in the movie version of Giant. The hotel was casually demolished by the Medical Center of Texas in 1986. Nondescript buildings mark the site today.
The Southern Cross in Melbourne- The Beatles stayed here in 1964 when it was new. This remarkably ugly building has recently been demolished for a new office tower and hotel development.
