Hello readers, thanks for stopping by. Wow, has it almost been ten years since I started doing this already? Many things have happened, both to Epinions and me in that decade. I've lived in three different states and I married the woman of my dreams on June 20, 2008. She made an account here this month as mrsblackbear and has even made a post. I'll try to get some pictures posted sometime.
One of better changes that has occurred recently was a consolidation of my belongings. For the first time in almost four years, I have my vast library with me and it looks good. In February of 2008 I topped over 1000 paperback novels although the hardback selection is still a slow gain. A few things are still back in Texas under the watchful eye of my good friend, but most is home with me and my wife once more.
About Me
Recently I decided that I would like to have one post at this site for each day I have been a member. That would mean that I would have to have 3,650 post by 16 February 2010, an impossible goal. So I have a goal counter set up above to attempt to reach a set amount for end of current year. Wish me luck.
I have a little hang up about writing reviews for stuff. I only write about things that I actually own. Granted, that limits the scope of what I can write on, but it also lets you know that you can trust my Epinions to be fact based rather than the first impression of a product I used at a friend's house. Since I am something of a pack rat, I keep almost everything, even things that I don't think are any good. You never can tell when it might come in handy. The second bedroom of our home is a nice library/game room/computer room and is lined with shelves full of books, toys, music, games, and software, along with three desks for the LAN I have set up.
I am an Apache who served in the 82nd Division for six years before having to leave due to injuries received in the line of duty. My wife works in a medical research lab for a large university and I have been designated the house husband since we have only one vehicle. We are thinking of sending me back to school again to complete my degree so that we might be able to afford a second vehicle so we can both work.
I read just about anything I can get my hands on, but mostly SciFi and Fantasy. I have a small private library of about 1500 books. The subject matter ranges from pure history to pure science to mathematics to romance to mystery to science fiction. This is a growing library because I "rescue" homeless books even if I don't care for the subject matter.
My hobbies range from role playing games to raising horses to HO scale model trains to computer products. I have been greatly interested in RPG's of all kinds, having helped play test both D&D and AD&D in the early 70's, then moving on to games like Warhammer, BattleTech, and Palladium. Lately a table top miniature game called Heroscape has caught my interest and you will find several reviews by me on their products.
Back in 2000, I decided to list the links to the RPG reviews that I have written on my profile in an effort to give my fellow members a Role Playing Games category. This list will grow long as I get around to writing about the many dozens of games and supplements for said games. The volumes listed below are not always in publication order or the order in which I wrote the reviews. They are ordered according to the relevance that they hold for the game system in question.
