Some Things About Me

Wonder How I Derived My User Name?

Well... Mid 90's my wife brought home a Pomeranian puppy with the intent of breeding him with other Pomeranians. They were trying to decide what name to put on his papers for the AKC. Since this was a new venture that I felt needed Gods blessing I looked up blessed in the Strongs Concordance.

The Hebrew word for blessed is barak That didn't roll of the tongue quite right so I added the suffix ah. What I didn't realize at the time was in changing the word from barak to barakah I also changed the direction of the blessing. barak means blessed as God is supporting your works and bringing goodness upon you. barakah on the other hand means to kneel and bless the Lord. And a variation of barachah means blessing as in I will be supportive of you. When I hooked up to the internet I needed a screen name and decided to go with Barakah.

I like it because it reminds me to be humble.

The '59' well I tack that on if barakah is taken it's the year I was born.

I did learn later that Barakah was the care giver/nursemaid to Muhammad and sometimes I get Muslims asking me if I'm a Muslim. Someone once told me it meant high praise to Allah in Arabic. All I can say to that is Hebrew and Judaea-Christianity predates it so I guess the languages share the same roots.

Well that's how I got my User Name if you want to learn about other epinion user names then visit "The First Great user-name 'Comment-Off' !!"

If you Click on that First Link that says "Get to Know the Real You" you it will take you to the Tickle Website. I love that place because it explains me to myself. And also helps me to recognize and appreciate diversity in other people. There are hundreds of tests you can take for free and get a brief synopsis of the results. If you want you can purchase a full report of each test and get a temporary membership. Although I have never done that so I'm not exactly sure what all is included with a membership.

I have to admit that some of the test are silly like "What breed of dog are you?" but most are pretty revealing and I have found them to be fairly accurate as well.

Some of my Emode by Tickle Test Results:

The Ultimate Personality Test

You're an Observer:
That means you're one of the more kind-hearted people around. You are unusually intuitive, and you probably understand yourself, as well as others. That also means you're a good mediator — though you may prefer to spend more quiet time on your own than most.

The Brain Test

Mark, you are Balanced-brained:
That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation.

When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over.

While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker.

The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

What's Your Superpower?

Say what? Your superpower is ANIMAL COMMUNICATION! Many people pretend to talk to their pets, but you can really, truly do it. Have you ever mimicked the monkeys or the penguins at the zoo? If you have, you're on your way to becoming a great animal communicator, just like Aquaman with his fishy friends. Some people think animal communication has to be vocal. Not so. Any superhero knows that mental telepathy is where it's at. So while barking at Fido might be fun, it's not the practice you really need. Instead, try thinking like an animal. When you get into the mindset of, say, a squirrel, you'll be able to truly communicate with one. Of course it's a two way street, because you'll be able to understand everything they say back, too. And they've got a lot to tell! Imagine talking to a walrus about the deep ocean or to an ant about life underground. Once you've perfected your superhuman gift, you'll never be without interesting conversation.

I Read My Own Palm On E-Mode

Mark, the shape of your hand reveals that you are especially good at Letting your love flow. Based on the signs in your palm, you have much to gain by giving your affection freely to those that you care most about. By putting directed energy toward expressing your love, your efforts will be returned multi-fold.

Ink Blot Test

Mark, your subconscious mind is driven most by Peace You have a deeply-rooted desire to make peace in the world. Whether through subtle interactions with loved ones, or through getting involved in social causes, it is important to you to be able to influence the world in a positive way.

You have a deep respect for humankind. You care about the future of the world, even beyond your own involvement in it, and you inspire others to feel the same way. Your innate drive toward peace guides you in daily life towards decisions that are respectful toward yourself and others.

Mars in 2001

Two dramatically different faces of our Red Planet neighbor appear in these comparison images showing how a global dust storm engulfed Mars with the onset of Martian spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

Adirondack – All Polished Up

This microscopic image shows a cleaned off portion of the rock dubbed Adirondack. In preparation for grinding into the rock, Spirit wiped off a fine coat of dust with a stainless steel brush located on its rock abrasion tool. The image was taken by the rover's microscopic imager. The observed area is 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) across.

Adirondack After the Drilling

"It looks like we took a blowtorch to Adirondack," joked Steve Gorevan, lead scientist for the rock abrasion tools on both rovers. "It's actually just the dust accumulation from drilling. However, we've never seen this kind of asymmetrical dust distribution when we used the RAT in testbeds on Earth. It could be that wind, which isn't a factor in a testbed, transported and spread the dust out."

Focus on El Capitan-2

This image, taken by the microscopic imager on the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity, shows a geological region of the rock outcrop at Meridiani Planum, Mars dubbed "El Capitan." Light from the top is illuminating the region. Several images, each showing a different part of this region in good focus, were merged to produce this view. The area in this image, taken on Sol 28 of the Opportunity mission, is 1.5 centimeters (0.6 inches) across.

Berries' and Rock Share Common Origins - Mar 18, 2004 This false-color composite image, taken at a region of the rock outcrop dubbed "Shoemaker's Patio" near the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity's landing site, shows finely layered sediments, which have been accentuated by erosion

Martian Winter

The polar caps freeze over during a Martian winter, as they thaw out mars could experience a severe dust storm. that covers the entire planet. The ice is actually frozen CO2 Carbon Dioxide (Dry Ice) not water.

Infrared imaging from NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft shows signs of layering exposed at the surface in a region of Mars called Terra Meridiani. The brightness levels show daytime surface temperatures, which range from about minus 20 degrees to zero degrees Celsius (minus 4 degrees to 32 degrees Fahrenheit).

As the atmospheric temperatures begin to rise the Dry Ice will sublime(turn from a solid to a gas) into the atmosphere. This sudden expansion of gas to the atmosphere is what likely causes the dust storms. Frozen CO2 below the top soil is bound to kick up the powdery soil as it sublimes.
