Pros: They answer their phones although they may hang up on you. Cons: Rude and terrible customer service, untruthful statements, has no control over sub-contractor.
Quotes from Nick Hunter, American Auto Transporters owner: "If you call us again before 5pm, I will tell Jennie not to return your call because you are being disruptive... Another $1000 will not make up for all these time I have to spend on the phone wit ...
This company has robbed us of our possessions and our sanity. We moved from Massachusetts to Texas recently and specifically spoke to the company's president, Nicholas Hunter as to whether it was okay to leave our belongings in the trunk and he assured ...
Pros: Quick pick-up Cons: Poor customer service, no control or tracking of shipping process, don't trust them.
I wish I had checked Epinions before I scheduled my car for transport. But I was in a hurry and these guys sounded professional on the phone, proposed an agreeable time schedule and had a reasonable price. So I went with them. What a mistake! ...
Pros: NONE Cons: No guarantee of delivery. Not responsible for stolen/damaged goods including car

Everyone I talked with at American Auto Transporters was friendly and informative with no problems what so ever. I am very pleased with the service I received and will use them again should I need an auto transport company.

Pros: they do answer the telephone. Cons: Please read review, they misrepresent themselves, lie and are extremely rude.
This company misrepresents itself as an auto transport company, not a "brokerage company" until they have your credit card number. When they finally received your fifth or sixth complaint, when they have voided the contract by not appearing to pick up said auto()s) by the required date, and then many days after, they inform you that they are a broker, not any actual transport firm with trucks. They out and out lied to my son as I was present when they misrepresentated themselves over the telephone to him and promised pick-up in Las Vegas, NV to Northeast Florida. They also promised door-to-door service I am dismayed to learn they drop the vehicles off at a terminal and run. They are rude, hung up and scream when you try and pin them down. When asked for a copy of their contracts (to different personnel) I was promptly "disconnected". I agree with others, never use a brokerage company to transport a vehicle and double check them out prior to hiring them.
Pros: Not much Cons: unreliable, some employees rude, expensive.
Wish I had read this blog before I hired this company. I paid more money than any other company but they had shipped my car before and they were okay but did not deliver when promised. The office staff seemed impatient when I called to get a date for pickup. They told me Friday and finally gave me the # of the dispatcher on Thurs afternoon who said they were not picking up the car. The dispatcher said my car was too far away for them to get. They found another truck and the driver told me Sat, then sunday, then monday and did not come until tues night. I called him about 100 times to find out where he was and he just did not answer the phone. I had to pay for hotel lodging, change my airline ticket. Cost me about $400 in incidentals to cover their mistakes.
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Lack of communication is an understatement. The truck driver suggested that I go to a motel and leave my car in the parking lot and give the front desk my keys or hide them. Of course all this happened an hour before my flight.

Pros: none Cons: everything.
This company is unprofessional and rude. They do not provide you with any information regarding your vehicle and Nick Hunter is awful. His job is to oversee the service his company provides and he does not have the decency or balls to return paying customers phone numbers. I still do not have my car it has been 26 days, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. I will never ship my car anywhere again because of the experience this company provided. Not worth the hassle, the money for the shipping, or the 1000 dollars that I have spent on a rental car thusfar...Please do not use this company you will deeply regret it!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Can't think of any Cons: They are brokers and understand they do not own their equipment.
We agree with the previous reviews regarding their service.
This company gave us the worst business experience we have ever had. We dropped off our car in Westchester county on the day and the drop -off terminal designated, and almost three weeks later , when we expected the car to be at our Florida home, it was still at the drop-off terminal. They were very matter of fact about the delay and we made inquiries numerous times over the next 10 days and received misleading statements regarding a delivery date, and they never returned calls(or E-mails) We incurred very costly rental car expenses which they refused to cover
We had contracted with them months before the move was to be made.
I agree with the other review. They don't return calls, can't tell you when they will pick up a car for transport. Many calls and I finally terminated the job. Have many shipments to make and gave them a try. They just lost a good piece of business.
I would NOT use them in any instance...period.
I had my 2005 Honda Accord 5,300K miles on his car carrier and when it got to Florida it was damaged maybe totaled in an accident in Virginia. The company is trying to say that its not there fault and they aren't responsible. The head of the place is never around! I can only say this in one WAY..STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They are very shady with using other car carrier companies and not really accepting responsibility for anything.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! by abernanke ,Oct 31 '05
Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE Cons: ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING
WITHOUT QUESTION, THE WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH!
This company is CORRUPT.
Worst customer service ever! No joke, they had the audacity to yell - yes yell - at me for service they failed to provide. Their promised pickup and delivery dates were complete lies, which cost me hundreds of dollars in rental car fees because of it (2.5 weeks worth).
I strongly urge you to use a different auto transportation company as this one has to be among the worst, if not THE WORST. I'm confident that you will regret your decision should you choose to use American Auto Transport (www.ship-auto.com).
I had a 1995 Z28 Camaro shipped from Boston to Georgia. Huge rush to pick the car up and get the check. It sat in their terminal in Canton for 9 days. After almost a week on the trailer it finally arrived at the destination. The delivery driver had my son sign for the car and had him back it off the trailer. By the time he had the car turned around the delivery driver was off down the street. There were unaccounted for extra miles on the car,the clutch was slipping, and on the rear quarter panels behind the rear tires there was all sorts or rubber residue where someone had been spinning the rear tires. If you enjoy being treated like crap and having you car beat on by some student driver this is the company to go with.
Give 'em $200. and you can move your own Van ? by idamann2 ,May 07 '08
Pros: Mama always said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything" ..EASY Cons: About as bad of a business ethic as I've ever seen!!
Tried to get a company work van shipped. Kim was nice on the phone and said it would be picked up in a week. I called weekly and was always told the same thing "It would be picked up this week" Four weeks later a truck shows up and says the van is too big to load on his truck, and says he was sent to pick up a safari mini van...my paperwork sent to me by American clearly shows the van to be shipped, as a Savana 1/2 ton. Two more weeks go by, and I have to move the van into a storage yard. We decided to just screw it and have it driven the two thousand miles back. Called American and told them we could wait no longer, would not need their service and wanted our deposit back. We then were told they would not give the deposit back. When asked to speak to a supervisor we were put on hold indefinitely. We will just contest the charge with the credit card company and move on!
Terrible, dishonest customer service by oyster1943 ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: NON Cons: NO CONTROL OVER CARRIERS, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Used this company last year . The car took two weeks to arrive instead of the promised three days. Nick made promises he had no intentions of keeping. Had already booked and paid for return trip from Florida to Mass. and car was delivered without the antenna. Nick said he would pay for a new one. After ten letters and phone calls without any check in the mail, I gave up. DON'T USE THIS PLACE EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE.
