Best Place to Camp

Pros: Awesome camping, hiking, and gorgeous scenery.
Cons: Good luck booking a site!
The Bottom Line: My final recommendation is that Wellesley Island State Park is a must see. Great time for family and friends alike.

Alright I don't know what some of these other reviews are about, but I absolutely love Wellesley Island State Park. I have camped there for the last 6 years and have grown more fond of it every year. For starters the park is huge and there is so much to do. The hiking is awesome (not just some lame nature trail), there are boat rentals so that you can go fishing, there is a beach to swim at, etc. The camping accommodations are also excellent. I have camped both in a tent and in a cabin and I found both to work out great. The campsites are generally private and many are along the river which makes it peaceful. Some of the sites are in the open but I think that those are more for RV's. The cabins are newer and unlike "cabins" you will find in most parks. The walls are freshly painted and there are newer floors. Overall they look new and fresh and definitely pass my test of creepy cabins. There is also a refrigerator, microwave, and table along with 2 bunk beds. Almost all of the cabins are right on the water which makes it easy for us to park the boat that we rent. However, I believe that there are a few cabins that are older and may not be in the best shape. You can check the condition when renting on Reserve America which helps (only lok for prime condition) Lastly the bathrooms for the most part are in good condition. Most of them are newer and the staff cleans them reguraly. Are they the cleanest things I have ever seen? No. ARe we in the middle of the woods camping? Yes! There are going to be bugs and some mess when you are in a campground that services 429 sites filed with people. But they are far from gross. If I use them then they are O.K. Trust me! So if your looking for a great place to camp with family and friends I highly reccomend this park. Great camping, gorgeous scenery, and plety of nearby attractions keep me coming back year after year. However, good luck booking a site the compitition during th summer months is crazy.
